Video Review of the AEE MD80 Mini DV Spy/Action Cam
Sunday, July 5, 2009 at 2:08PM I've put another video review together, this time of the AEE MD80 Mini DV Spy Cam.
The video explains all the details - so if you think you want a tiny video camera make sure you have a look at this first.
I've got to try and make these clips smaller in future - I know that people have an attention span of a few secs - yet I still go on about nothing for minutes. The ebay seller I used for mine was inesun - a reliable Chinese exporter. You can also pick this up in Maplin in the UK.
UPDATE - After a few suggestions on the Youtube comments I tried the camera again with a different memory card and I'm happy to report that it doesn't jerk any more. The card I originally used was a Lexar card supplied with the camera - perhaps the memory was a fake, there is a lot about. I feel that I didn't give the camera a fair review, so I have added a new clip taken with the new memory card in it. The card I used in the end was a 2gb Sandisk, it's not SDHC just SD (micro) and I imagine it will be a class 1 or 2.

Got mine recently am pretty happy with it. Though for some reason none of my computers recognize it when plugged in. It was recognized at one time now I get a windows pop up saying usb device not recognized. Ive tried everything to get it to work but no luck. Thanks for the review on this camera, nice work.

How do you change the Date that shows on the Video???
Mine reads 5-16-2008 & I would like to put the Right date on the Videos.

My version of the camera doesn't display the date or time but click through to the video on YouTube and then watch one of the video replies that someone has posted that explains how to do this.

hey tech, i have a MD80, does not say (AEE) on the package, but have had no luck with this DAMM THING, usb does not reconise, software disk does crap for INSTALL, pls help......james
Mine seems to have crashed after a week of use and I've got no way of resetting the device. :-/
I wouldn't mind, but I've also got a cheap Chinese copy too, which has lasted longer than the original.

First of all, I say that I find your review of Mini DV MD80 very interesting.
I have a fake MD80, yet for my fault she crashed. I thought I had inserted the micro sd card in MD80 and execute a formatting, the problem is that the card wasnt inserted and so i formatted the MD80 (delete the firmware of the MD80 and not the contents of the card).
Thereafter, the computer no longer recognizes the MD80 and when the turn on, she is blocked with the lights on and not working.
Did you know any way to installing the firmware? Already now, i take this opportunity to ask if you know where can i buy replacement batteries, I have some colleagues in the batteries of the MD80 them are dead and need to be replaced.
