Car Windscreen HD Video Camera Review

I've made another video review - this time for a purpose built car camera. People who drive professionally (taxi drivers, truckers etc) like the idea of using a camera to capture accident evidence to use for insurance purposes. Others think that they may just capture something that could end up being used on the news or posted to youtube - whatever the reason, a demand definitely exists for a good cheap dashboard camera, watch the video to see if this camera does the job. ... Incidentally what do you think this particular type of camera should be called - car dash camera, windscreen/windshield camera, accident camera, incident camera, Car DVR? I think we should decide on a standard name for these kind of products to make searching easier.

Nice post. I think this will be helpful for drivers on the road. There are times that a captured video is valuable when reporting an incident because the other party might be saying something else against you.

This is really neat concept. One in front and back could be really helpful for authorities and insurance companies.

Thanks for the lengthy review.... but I have a few questions.

Can the camera start recording as soon as it detects power input from the 5v supply? My plan would be to leave it in the car at all times so when someone wants to barrow the car, I can get footage without going in and turning it on manually. I'm assuming it also records with the screen closed in right?

@Roman...yes it can auto start upon receiving power, but as I showed in the video, it doesn't auto stop. Probably the best solution would be to use the Motion detection function, then it would start and stop whenever it saw movement.
Yes it records with the screen shut.

Thanks for the reply... I could swear I remember reading that it would auto stop recording after the record period that you had it set at. But its no big deal. I'm probably going to try and go with the #11 808 camera for the motorcycle and forgo the car cam for now.

BTW, awesome website, so many cool tech stuff on here, almost wasted a whole day just "wandering around here." :) Keep it up.

Camera of this size is very handy and convenient. Such great features for a camera of this size.

I recently bought sth similar, 1080p in fact at only 70 euro. can't say anything bad about the camera other than that it didn't do what I wanted. I was not interested in its fish eye lens (viewing angle wasn't mentioned in the manual but it was huge). I want a camera that records idiots in front of me, preferably with at least a digital zoom and a narrower viewing angle (say 60°) so I could post it on YT and the number plate would be readable. Any car I film with this thing I bought looks like it's 20 feet in front of me even though we're bumper-to-bumper. I do not want the drawbacks of a very wide angle lens. Does anyone know of a car camera that does what I want? Must be at least 720*480. Anything less is for people who own a microscope.
