TRITTON AX PRO Gaming Headphones with 5.1 Surround Sound

On Christmas eve the postman braved the snow to deliver me an early present. It was a parcel from a new website called Gamingzap.com (the latest venture from the people behind Gearzap.com). The parcel contained what must be one of the most expensive gaming headsets available for the PS3 or 360, the £145 Dolby 5.1 Surround Sound, Tritton AX Pro.
Reviewing audio equipment is particularly difficult because as a potential buyer, you really need to audition it yourself to make your own mind up. So with that in mind I put together a video giving an overview of the product that is more based on facts than personal opinion. I will say that the headset did sound very good to me. I've owned plenty of decent headphones over the years and these were as good as any I've tried. They are definitely a big step up over the standard 360 or PS3 headsets for sound quality as well as comfort.
The surround effect is definitely present and is considerably better than a normal stereo image. The soundstage isn't as clearly defined as it is with a multi-speaker system, but it is amazing that you can get this level of surround from a set of headphones. I'd recommend these to people who take gaming very seriously and want all the best kit. I should also mention for non-gamers that these are good for watching films late at night without waking up the rest of the family.
It's good that console gamers can finally get their hands on some pro gaming equipment, this was a segment of the accessory market that for too long catered solely to PC gamers.

appears great is not really as decent as over-the-head design dr dre headphones, especially within bass.
