What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

SPECIAL DASHCAM CARDS

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for dashcams...here's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

SJ72 Review - plus why you shouldn't expect your FPV to look like a FPS

I regularly receive emails from people asking me what the best action camera is for under £50. It seems that a surprising number of people like the idea of using a cheap head/goggle mounted camera to record their paintball battles.

Unfortunately I can't recommend any of the cameras I've tried so far and the SJ72 is no exception.

That being said, whilst I've never been paint-balling myself I imagine that it would be impossible to capture any meaningful footage of a frenetic activity like this using a head-mounted camera….irrespective of how much you spend.

I think that FPS action games like the Call Of Duty series may have given people an unrealistic expectation of what a soldier's eye view of a battle looks like. There is a good reason why real-life head mounted FPV footage is not often seen on TV. Footage taken from a headcam is often very disorientating and difficult to watch for anything more than a few seconds at a time. Activities with smooth movement like skiing and skydiving can come across well, but anthing involving quick random movements like running and ducking will usually look terrible.

Even TV shows where cameras are strapped to police officers on the beat only really utilise a few brief seconds of footage taken from this perspective and then quickly switch to video taken by traditional cameras from conventional angles as soon as the TV crew are set up.

So if you are going to try and use a camera for your action activities make sure you have realistic expectations of what is and isn't possible with small body-mounted cameras like these, think about videos you've already seen that work well and why these types of cameras are commonly used to document some activities but not others.

Anyway, here's my review of the SJ72.

I've been waiting for a new review from you for a while and now it it's finally hear! Thank you for another great review! Are you planning on making a review of a somewhat more extensive action cam in the near future? Maybe a potential competitor to the rd32ii and the Xdreme cam?

Another great review and more money you have saved people! Even the reviews of bad cameras highlight useful things for people to be aware of when they do get one. I learn something new every time I watch your reviews. Thanks and keep up the great work!

Great review again!
I compared your footage to the footage from your 808 reviews and it looks like even in 720p mode, the quality of the video is more rubbish than with the 808. You dont noticed that in the video. It looks more like upscaled 1000x563 or less.

I hope someone will get your hints!

Thanks again for another great review. Just too bad it had to be something that wasn't worth purchasing.
