What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

U3 CARD (For 4K cameras)

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

The Mini 0801 - Tiny 1080p GPS Car Camera with an LCD Screen

UPDATE 2014 - be sure to look at the New Improved 0803 Model HERE.

I finally have an answer for the people who ask me which Dashcam I use…. it's this one.

Up until this point whenever I finished reviewing a car camera, I removed it from my car and boxed it up again. This is the first camera that's earned a permanant place on my windscreen.

There are a couple of reasons for this - firstly one thing that shouldn't be underestimated is the WAF (Wife Acceptance Factor). I may be perfectly happy to live with a big piece of electronics hanging from the windscreen - but it's not completely down to me. The truth is though that I'm just as unhappy with anything messing up the car, however another more important concern is theft. Leaving an expensive device like a BlackVue camera in the windscreen is just not a good idea. To the average drug addict looking in car windows for something  to fund his next fix, you may as well have just left £50 on the passenger seat. However I'll be damned if I'm going to install and remove a camera every time I go for a short drive to the shops, I know that after a while I would get fed up doing it and leave it under a seat, and of course that's when something would happen.

However all those concerns are behind me because I've finally got a small car camera that appears to perform as well as any of the large devices that I've tried but that can be discretely mounted in a car and forgotten about.

Just prior to this camera's arrival I was thinking about how to permanently install the Mobius camera in my car and I still think that this would be a good alternative option if you can find some way to mount it, but I find that the design of the Mini 0801 fits better with my requirements.

Just bought one of these from Joovuu, fast service from them. Mine also has the MPH/KPH switchable option, I'm finally upgrading from an early Blackvue 300G.

Only problem I have found is with the initial plug in to the PC, it came up as unrecognised the first time and now never shows up. But considering that it'll probably never be plugged in again after it goes in the car, and the card reads fine.

In the basic instructions, it mentions that a class 10 SDHC card could cause some problems but some people state that they have not had any problems. Has this matter now been resolved? Does a class 10 card work in the Mini 0801??

February 3, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterPaul

Hi, I can,t say that I am impressed with Joovuu!
I ordered a Mini 0801 A7 & WDR online on the 31st Jan. But have had no email confirmation of my order or replies to my questions!! On the Online Invoice there is no address just Joovuu Store, Date and # Invoice 12345?
Getting worried?!?
The Link for Joovuu was on this Site so I hope all is well!

February 4, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterspecki14

I bought my Mobius from JooVuu in October. When it's USB cable failed, they sent me a replacement with no fuss. Don't worry, they have a good reputation.

February 4, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterruss331

Fingers Crossed!
Thanks for you assurance. Lets hope for the best.
I just can,t understand why an Invoice does not have the Address of the Seller?
Are they in the UK?

February 4, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterspecki14

Yes, they're in Stockport, UK. Your package should include a label showing their full address.

has any one got any idea why my gps is showing me driving through china, have I missed something in the set up

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

@Mal, can you check the firmware version running on the unit? also, where are you located?

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLawrence

@Mal, try Registrator Viewer there are settings for GPS offset if yours is incorrect, generally playback software related though and not a problem with your camera

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterjokiin

thanks Joklin, the Registratorviewer thing works a treat, can't find anything about the firmware Lawrence

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

just realised this computer is using windows 7, in the book it says xp or vista, could that be the problem, if so how do I make it compatible with 7

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

@Mal windows 7 seems to be working just fine for me. Not sure if any other members hear any issues being reported.

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLawrence

I bought my 0801 quite recently. The first tests with Registratorviewer on my Windows 7 desktop worked out fine.

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterWim

Just wanted to say what an awesome review. Well above the standard Utube stuff. Most professional.

Wish I had one last year when someone deliberately jammed on their brakes in front of me as I pulled out! Ended up costing me £500 to get that sorted and would have been double if OEM with proper grill etc.

My only question is what if you don't buy the GPS unit, what functionality does it lose - is it just location / speed info?

thx again.

February 5, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersixpack

Yes you just lose the GPS location and speed info...and the ability to automatically pull the time from the GPS. Speed info is a double edged sword...and some people (myself included) don't want it burnt into the video. Imagine you were doing 33mph in a 30 then someone pulled out in front of your car...your video evidence could indicate that you were partially to blame.

February 5, 2014 | Registered CommenterTechmoan

Hey Lawrence, I found the firmware, it's 20 1 31230

February 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

@Mal, the firmware seems to be ok. It sounds like the issue is related to the player as registrator software works just fine.

February 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLawrence

any idea where I go from here, e prance told me to format the card (32gb Class 10) and also reset to factory settings. Just read in an early post that the class 10 card can cause problems, any clues

February 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

On the subject of Class 10 cards, does anyone know what sort of problems the unit may have with them?

Will the LED not flash if it cannot write to the card, or will I not know until I try to read the card?

I ordered a Class 10 before I read the bit in the manual, but the manual stating that the card may be 'too fast' just doesn't seem to make sense to me. Surely the card will just receive and be written too at the speed the hardware can write to it?

February 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterGordon

Class 10 cards.
Gordon - I'm not an expert on media cards but there's some stuff on cnet about the "class" ratings (which have to be paid for by the manufacturer btw).

This from a couple of the comments.

>>Lesson here is read the ratings carefully. Words like "sustained", "fragmented", "bit" vs "byte" or B vs b, "minimum", "maximum", "up to", "maximum sustained" etc... grrrrr There are some good test charts out there and more reputable brands will have more detailed specs on there websites.

>>The class system is a paid for certification that marks the guaranteed MINIUM sustained read and write speeds. In the case of class 10 its 10mb/s The packaging displays the class (and you are expected to know or ignore its meaning) but then they quote their MAXIUMUM read write speeds, but this can depend on the device and is very variable. So whilst not a lie, a class 6 card has a minimum of 6mb/s and in this case a maxium (but probably not sustainable if at all achievable in consumer devices) 40mb/s

Remember its sustained that matters, not peak. So its very likely the class 10 was faster. Hope that helps

>> end quotes.

Hope it's of interest to you.

Hi Gordon, the manufacturer says that it may jam the unit,

February 6, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMal

Thanks for the great review. I bought the 0801 recently and I am happy with it. My only problem is to fix the cam's wire to the windscreen's edge. I can do it with sellotape but then it won't be at the very edge. In your video the wire is hidden so well at the edge I couldn't find out how you did it. Could you tell the secret pls?

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterGabor

Just got one of these and well pleased. However there was no HDMI lead and no AV lead, but there was a spare sticky pad.

Angle of view was 135 degress according to the manual not 120 and I think I'd have preferred 120 but no big deal.

On the plus side there's now an option for speed in mph.

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMike B

Hi everyone,
To all of those wanting to order the Mini 0801 with A7 + WDR. Please note, that there is a BIG WARNING BOX on this page that says the camera is not due in until late February/early March. Therefore if you order this product you need to be aware that you are PRE-ORDERING THE PRODUCT. As some comments have not been happy with our service, we feel these are unjust as there is a giant warning box on the product page. If you have any questions please contact us at

Kind regards,

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJooVuu

@Mike B

135 degrees is the diagonal field of view. The horizontal field of view is claimed to be 120 degrees, however, it's narrower than the Mobius B, which is 116 degrees HFOV.

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterruss331

Wow wow wow JooVuu. Not really true! I ordered the 0801 with A7 & WDR NEW! Nothing else. After ordering
Backorder was stated on the Invoice but no info. After enquiring about Backorder & delivery status you stated it was on the Site?
It was not on your Site at that moment in time. I certainly would not have opted for fast delivery if I,de have known otherwise.

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterspecki14

Just got a mini 0801 and struggling to figure out how to take the speed from off the screen,
anyone have any ideas? Thanks

February 7, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDave

FAO Gabor
I think you will find that you gently lift the edge of the headlining just enough to push the cable into it, ideally using a wood or plastic spatula type of implement to prevent damage to the cable. Work your way around as shown in Techmoan's video. Most of the plastic linings in the car can be moved enough for this to work.
If this is not possible, you could try small pieces of double sided sticky tape or pads.
In advance, make sure that the cable is long enough to reach from the cigar lighter socket to the camera's position on the screen. Save any excess section to be hidden behind any of the screw-on panels of the dash (usually under the steering wheel or glove box)

I bought my mini 0801 (GPS + 8GB internal) dashcam recently from
Everything went fine but my dashcam is freezing once day in average.
But I could not receieve any feedback/support from FoxOffer.
My firmware version is 20131126.
I would not like to upgrade it and burn it espacially because I do not own the curent firmware file to roll back.
Which version of firmware do you suggest as compatible wiith my dashcam version ?
Thanks in advance for your support.

February 8, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJPF

Hi mat,
Thx for that review.
I’m a German and I was looking on Germany’s amazon and eBay to find a really small dashcam which I can hide in front of the rear-view-mirror to forget it in daily use and nobody sees it on first sight.
So I found that small itracker mini0801 from a German importer which indeed delivers that cam not just with a complete German instruction manual, the whole firmware is in German language and so it is really easy to use when you have to use it.
On this german amazon offer your review video on YouTube is listed, so I found
It the german version of the mini 0801 saves the videos in .mp4 with H264 Codec, and nothing else. So now extra file for the GPS Data’s, somehow these data’s are inside the mp4 files. Absolutely easy to use and the GPS Movie Player comes with that cam INSIDE the Cams memory. So to install the software, you have to connect the cam straight to the computer to get shown all the files, and one of it is the GPS Movie Player. So you can never loose the application by loosing the cd-rom.
The mic is really bad, but I have switched off the mic all the time, it shall not record my talking to my co-driver or maybe a phonecall. Also I followed your advise to switch off the GPS speed shown in the picture, in that german version you can set a lot of different speed limits, so for example you set speedlimit 50km/h (inside citys) and you drive 50km/h, it appears in the movie, everything above 50km/h dissaperas in the movie. But I have chosen to let it switched off complete.
And GPS always sets the time right, also a nice feature for that price, which i think is good for that quality and the equipment of that dashcam.
The german importer also just offers the cam with the GPS socket, so GPS always comes with the cam in Germany. I ordered mine from that importer for 119Euros three weeks ago over In the meantime it comes straight from amazon including amazon-prime for the same price.
That one already is hidden in one of my cars in front of the rear view mirror, yesterday I ordered three more of these dashcams. One is for the rear window and the others for the same two places in my second car.
Your review really helped me a lot to decide especially for that mini 0801 iTracker Dashcam.
So thumbs up and a big THANK YOU for your help with your work which is your hobby.

Thanks a lot mat, Christian from Germany
