What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

U3 CARD (For 4K cameras)

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

The Innovv C1 Review

At long last here is my review of the Innovv C1 camera. This is a very interesting little camera with a number of clever features. The manufacturer has set-out to make the best mini 1080p camera, watch the video to see if they succeeded. I didn't mention price in the video because these things often change, but if you click the links below the video you'll see the latest deals.

Innovv has been putting out regular firmware updates to tweak the camera and add features...which is of course a good thing, but it also makes it difficult to review when the goalposts keep moving. So consider this video to be a demonstration of this camera's features and abilities as of early January 2014 if you are reading this in a few months then some of the things I've mentioned may well have changed.

I haven't found anyone selling the Dash-cam lead seperately, I'd imagine it's the same one used in some of the 808 keyring cameras, but I can't confirm this until I unearth my old 808 #26 wire. It's unfortunate that a special lead is required if you want to power and record at the same time or utilise the auto power on/off function, so hopefully they'll consider bundling this important USB wire with future sales.

One thing I didnt mention in the video is that, as expected, there is no gap between clips when using this camera as a dash-cam...rather each new clip repeats a fraction of a second of the previous one.

If you want to read the manuals, install the GUI Update Utility or get the firmware updates, they can all be obtained from the Manufacturer's website HERE.

Download Samples HERE. As always, don't stream these, because if you do the quality will be no different to watching them on youtube. To download, change the dropbox thumbnail-based file page into a list (icon at the top right) then click on a file and choose Download (Icon bottom right 'More Actions'). Once they are downloaded you can play them from your hard-drive to see the true untouched video quality.

More info about the Innov C1 is available on the Dashcamtalk and RCGroups forums.

I downloaded the GUI and tried to turn the Motion Detection ON through the panel and hit the SAVE TO CAMERA but it prompts me to find a folder. Alternatively, when I hit CREATE CONFIGURATION FILE, nothing happened. I am totally confused with this cam.

In the event, I am able to turn ON the Motion Detection, how it would affect my continuous record while driving^ I am using the camera as a Dashcam.

I understand now the meaning of G-sensor.

Many thanks

One more question: there is no indication on the GUI that the G-sensor can be shut down. I do have three options: High-Normal and Low.

Plug in the camera, then turn on. Your pc should see the camera as an external drive. Decide on the config you want, click create file, then save to camera. When it asks where, select the location your pc sees the camera as a drive. Save. Turn off the camera, and then turn on again. The led will flash for a few seconds showing it's loading the new config. When all activity stops, unplug. It should be set up now.

The latest version of GUI has a turn off option. It can be downloaded from the Innovv web site Specifications page.

Thanks Bob for your assistance. I finally figured out how to update the cam setup. I will download the latest GUI version as suggested.

I'm not sure if Techmoan mentioned it, I could have missed it, but rotating the camera does NOT work if the g-sensor is turned off.

EDIT: Looking back, I don't think that the unit demonstrated had the option to turn off the g-sensor, so that wouldn't have been mentioned.

The lens on the silver camera sticks out slightly, but on the other cameras (Gold, Black & Blue) they are flush...Were these post-production models?

Although I like the design and the features, I couldn't live with that fisheye lens. Would still opt for the Mobius

Hi Folks,

I start enjoying the Innovv cam which does fully what I am hoping from it. However, I had a few problem since this morning due to mistake last night: I pushed to hard the memory stick therefore, the slot moved down and becomes too tight. I was not able to pull out the Miscro SD. Then I removed the rear metal panel.

This morning, I used the cam while driving to work. Surprisingly, the backgroud picture becomes a bit blurry while the forground is so clear. I have the feeling that the lens is focusing on my windshield instead of the outside pictures. I could even see all scratches on my windshield. I tested in the office through my windows and all the far buildings aren't sharp.

I opened again the rear metal panel and the front one. Placed them back. It seems the picture quality is getting better but I am not sure if it is the optimised focus.

Does any one has an explanation on that issue?

EDIT: I confirm that th G-Sensor can be turned off with the last version of GUI (ver 3). I left mine on ON.

@ABZ: if you buy one now, all the new cams c1 or c2 come with the new lens (bold shape). I had that confirmation from the manufacturer by email before purchasing. Mine was arrived 2 weeks ago and the looking confirms his message.
I was ordering directly from their website (less expensive)
