What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

SPECIAL DASHCAM CARDS

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for dashcams...here's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

Innovv C3 Review -The Wired Lens Mini Camera

Cube shaped action cameras aren't suitable for all situations so Innovv thought outside the box when designing their new camera to allow for greater flexibility in camera placement.

If you've got the time (31 mins) you can click the video below to see my full review of the C3 Mini Snake Camera.

One thing that I didn't mention during the review was how this could be considered to be the first Motorcycle 'Dash' Camera. Over the years I've reviewed plenty of Car DVR Dashcams, but whenever people asked me if something similar was available for motorcycles I've always drawn a blank....until now. The C3 has all the necesssary features to make a great bike DVR . It has the ability to loop over the oldest video on the memory card, the water resistant camera can be lashed to the frame or hidden away in a fairing and the control unit can be stowed seperately in a dry area of the bike - perhaps under the seat, powered from a switched 5V USB.

My bike already has a switched 12V power socket fitted, but if you need to fit one I believe that a Fuseblock is a device you can install to get switched power and then add a 12V to 5V USB 1 Amp converter for the Innovv C3.

But that's just one use for a C3, but I'm sure you can think of many others.

DOWNLOADABLE CLIPS
You can download samples clips from here . Do not stream these as this downgrades the quality - you have to download the clips and then play them back from your computer to see their true original quality.

Purchasing the C3

If you are interested in buying a Innovv C3 Mini Snake camera, there are a few options...but be sure to pick the right lens unit for your requirements (120º or 90º) - In my opinion 90º worked best as a motorcycle helmet mounted camera.

1) You can order direct from Innovv by clicking here.

Current Price - $129 for 90º or $139 for 120º, but be sure to use coupon code 4F2EE74D at checkout for a $5 discount. (I've noticed that the Innovv website works better in the Chrome Browser)

(Please don't repost this code anywhere, it may be changed and you'll look dim for posting a useless code).

The C3 can also be found at the links below (Some of these links may also list the C1 or C2 - so choose carefully)

Thanks for another great review Matt. Rock gave me the heads up to expect a review from you very soon.
Just wanted to know what you would recommend for a simple and discreet front and rear dashcam setup - 2 x Mobius or 2 x Innovv C3s. Some sort of parking mode would be ideal, but not sure how reliable this function is on either of these cams :/.
I'm on a budget of around £150-180 for the 2 and haven't found a suitable enough or cheap enough 2 channel system yet.

My C3 is not recognised by my PC ,C1 is ok .Records but not configerable via the PC.Maybe a manufacturing fault .Needs clarification by Innovv , seems i am not the only one .

Looks like an excellent device for inspecting narrow, hard to reach places. Just wondering what's the smallest distance it can focus the image?

Danny, perhaps you are making the same 'mistake' as I was. Did you know that the cable with the lens on it has to be attached to the C3 recorder for the pc to see it as a drive?

Can you testing the SJ5000?
I know this is not the disciple from the SJ4000!
Can you try it anyway?

Greetings from Krautland! ;-)

Was the camera sensor not straight in the case (didn't line up with the mark on top of the camera)? All of the videos were on the wonk, even the hand held ones.

This design is the closest to "my perfect camera". If you could connect 2 cameras to it, the cameras were a touch smaller, the night mode was a bit better and the mounting options for windscreen back of the rear view mirror was better, it truly would be perfect.

I often wonder how long it'll be until a company makes a barrel shaped camera with a simple gimbal (freely rotating with a weighted base) so the camera stays level inside the barrel so the video always remains straight.

I wonder if the camera is waterproof enough if mounted in the grille at the front of the car? Then you can put the recorder unit in the engine compartment and run the power to there.

"Over the years I've reviewed plenty of Car DVR Dashcams, but whenever people asked me if something similar was available for motorcycles I've always drawn a blank...."

Well, there's the Roadhawk Ride, which on paper at least seems to tick all the dashcam boxes.

Some one earlier mentioned that a "parking mode" would be great so thought I'd mention the Z8 dash cam.

Has a collision detection mode so cam will start up and record for a few mins even if you are parked.

Could be a good addition to the Innovv C3.
