What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

SPECIAL DASHCAM CARDS

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for dashcams...here's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

1080p Hidden Camera Spy Glasses

Due to popular demand, I've finally reviewed some 1080p 'Spy' Camera Glasses.

If you are thinking I should have instead reviewed Google Glass or Liquid Image's camera Goggles - remember that the only reason that that this video was made because people asked to see my take on some of the cheap Chinese 'spy glasses' cluttering up ebay...so that's what this video is about. I also decided that I should attempt to find the most discreet 1080p glasses available. The kind of spectacles I could wear anywhere without drawing attention to myself. Watch the video below to see how I got on.

You can try your luck at finding some spy glasses yourself on ebay by Clicking Here, but I have a feeling that any money spent on the current selection will likely be money wasted.

I'll probably take a look into camera glasses again in a year or so if the technology has improved, because the idea of hands-free discreet head-mounted recording is an appealing one. Personally though these kind of glasses will never be any use to me because I wear prescription lenses and I can only wear glasses like this for short periods before I get a headache due to eye-strain.

Just a bit of behind the scenes info. The final shot was supposed to have a glasses POV aspect to it too. Unfortunately the SD card was destroyed during the filming....so I'd suggest you don't try and copy this at home. Before I shot the scene I tried to swap out my decent SD card with a cheaper one - but the cheap one slid inside the arm of the camera and vanished... so I took the risk of shooting with the decent card. Losing a £15 memory card is not the end of the world and it's just part of the costs asscociated in trying to make a dodgy product into an interesting video.

Ha ha awesome Matt

Being a real spy in Canada, I just stick to Lawmate products and the amazing 808 #26 key fob. Problem with glasses is that ya have to look at the subject, and that will end in tears always.

Thank you for this review. I have been very curious regarding these devices. I appreciate you letting us know that you don't plan to review these devices in the future. I was hoping to get your review of a Pivothead device. But I will look elsewhere... or maybe I will do my own review. That would be crazy.

Loved the review.
And as always - Thanks for letting us watch.

Oh dear... you killed a MicroSD card as well!!
Collateral Damage?

Love your work.
Keep the reviews coming.

Now, if the Mobius makers could re-work their camera into the shape of glasses, I'd certainly be interested. I bought some real cheap spy glasses many years ago just for the novelty but they were terrible, looked bad, not nice to wear, produced bad quality video, they've been sitting in the case ever since.

Matt I don't think that guy in the street spotted you where wearing spy glasses, I think he recognised you... after all you are famous!

"..chimp hitting it's head against a keyboard.." Classic! Great review.

I bought something quite similar for cycling.
Absolute rubbish, with similar results that Mr. Techmoan has shown here.

Thanks for the again very useful review. I have purchased the fake Oakley sunglasses. They are 720P. Apart from the inevitably thick legs the stealth is very good and the picture quality is quite good.

I was thinking 720p might give better results as that requires less horsepower, what's the reference of these "oakley" looking glasses and where did you get them? Thanks!
