What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend. 

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

SPECIAL DASHCAM CARDS

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for dashcams...here's some.

 

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

Adding some boom to a 1975 Panasonic TNT

This is what I did on Sunday.

Repair videos like this look simple but they are the most difficult videos I make. Trying to take something apart and repair it with a camera in the way isn't easy. I have to make sure things are framed for the camera, and my hands aren't obscuring the view, whilst also trying to perform a delicate task. There is also no way to know whether the repair I set out to attempt is going to be successful. If something goes wrong they are no second chances - the video will just get deleted.

Nevertheless when these types of video work out, I think they are especially entertaining to watch. I made a conscientious effort to edit this video down to within an inch of it's life. I went through the video multiple times in an attempt to shave off any unnecessary seconds of footage. Hopefully as a result you'll find this one moves along quickly.

I'm fully aware that no one watching the video will ever replicate my repair, so I'm just attempting to achieve the same things as the average TV cooking show. If I've done my job properly, you'll find this video easy to watch and you'll have learnt nothing by the end.

I always enjoy your videos, as an ex audio technician I can tell you that speakers usually have better bass if the front is isolated from the rear as the cabinet prevents the low frequencies 'short circuiting'. The other new speaker may have sounded a lot better if it was tested in the cabinet rather than 'open air'.
You will normally get more sound out of a 4 ohm speaker than an 8 ohm, this is because power in watts = voltage^2 /ohms, it wouldn't matter in this case, but you need to careful when dealing with high power amplifiers as a mismatch can result in burning smells, smoke & then silence :)

Hmm, I thought low ohms (lower resistance) would make the speaker louder than one that had a higher resistance.
I think it was just quieter because the cone was a third of the area of the original.

I would certainly endorse what Dave says. You are not using a baffle and so not isolating the front of the cone from the back. The
sound waves produced at the rear are out of phase with those at the front and with no baffle can easily travel from the front to the rear (& vice versa) and cancel each other out resulting in thin quiet music. Make a baffle by cutting a circle of aluminium the same diameter as the original hole and then cutting an aperture in that to suit your new speaker. I would expect a marked difference..

Hi Matt speakers don't give out any bass until they are sealed around the edge and enclosed in a resentence chamber , you could make a thick cardboard disc with a cut out for the small speaker it shouldn't sit in mid air.
