What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

U3 CARD (For 4K cameras)

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

I get asked "when are you doing a minidisc video" every day. Some people ask me if I've heard of a 'forgotten format' that was like a small CD held in a plastic tray called 'mini disk' (SIC) so its probably best that I put the record straight....I was all-in on MD back in the early 00s. I loved MD, and I still do, I used it daily until I got my first iPod (which was an iPod colour). I've still got a box full of MDs and I was present at a Sony launch demonstration of minidisc a few months before it went on sale to the public in the UK.
So yes, I'm working my way around to Minidisc. I have been accumulating a number of machines that demonstrate different aspects and milestones in the minidisc format's timeline. There's a lot to cover ATRAC, MD LP, HiMD etc etc.
Many of my audio format videos have taken years to assemble, and there's really no rush, MD isn't going anywhere, no reason to panic....a MD retrospective video will happen, when I can do a good job of it. I really don't want to do a format that is so close to my heart a please bear with it.

It's great you're working on an MD item. If you need some gear, let me know.

Best re-post under the M6+ video, but you do need to be more specific so that anyone could understand your problem.
Playback errors occurring over....
wifi on a phone?
iOS or android?
playback errors on a computer?
OSX or Windows?
And in what playback software
VLC, Media Player, QuickTime etc.

No problem, I keep putting the minidisc video further down the queue because it's something I can't get excited about. I used them, they were great, but just like asking someone to review a car they drove 15 years ago, it doesn't feel like fun.

If you need a portable MD player I have one of the Sony NetMD units that I can loan out. I also have a collection of MiniDiscs I am willing to loan out. I also have a large home unit that I would offer for you to disassemble as it is no longer functional, free to good home shall we say.

Thanks for the offer- but I've collected all the machines I need's just a matter of finding the time to make the video. I do also need to cover one other format first that then leads neatly into MD. It makes a lot more sense this way around.

Hi Techmoan, one more thing to cover is that Philips - the maker of the competing DCC - interestingly did produce MiniDisc recorders, however under their (back then) Marantz brand.
Again, if you need some gear for your video, be it an MD Walkman, pre-recorded discs including an early demo disc, feel free to contact me.
