What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

U3 CARD (For 4K cameras)

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

The Mobius 2 everything-cam is finally up to the job

It’s been a while since I finished a camera review. It’s not for a lack of trying, I’ve been testing cameras but most of them weren’t good enough to warrant spending the time needed to complete a review.

The Mobius 2 was one of the cameras that initially didn’t impress. Upon its release last year the video quality was a noticeable step back compared to its popular predecessor. Six months later, it’s a different story. Finally the firmware has caught up with the camera and it’s now capable of producing some great results. Watch the video below to find out more.

The manufacturer is in Hong Kong and sells the Mobius 2 worldwide directly through ebay. Click your country below to be taken to the Mobius 2 on their store.

I've kicked up a fuss about the missing "Lock" feature, and I've just updated to the latest firmware (2.08) and it seems to now move video clips into the folder called "LOCK" when the MODE button is pressed.

I would like to connect the Mobius 2 to my mobile for in the field recordings. After searching the web, is this the correct lead?

Many thanks,

Hi Mat!

Thank you so much for the review of the M2 and providing the original files for
download and evaluation.

It would be great if you could also provide a short sequence of an identical scene
with moving subjects shot
a) once in H.264 and
b) once in H.265
in the download section to evaluate quality differences and to see whether
my aging hardware will be able to play "the new kid on the block" HEVC ;)

Thank you,

Hi! Good review.
Here is my question.
I love this camera, but I’m not a big fan of the fish eye effect..
Could you tell me where can I buy a lens with no fish eye effect?
or.. is the lens that comes with the Mobius 2 the one with LESS fish eye effect?

Does anyone know if the Mobius2 uses any more power (ie; less battery life) when using the H265 codec mode/s?
My Mob2 seems to have a lot less battery time than I am used to - but I am getting close to the 2 hour record time with the H264...

But I get about 1 hour with H265. Call me silly, it's just that I've never noticed that before.

Regarding lens cable extension, I've found on their forum (Lens module section) that the lens cable from M1 it's is NOT compatible with M2, but the shortest cable (6cm / 2.5") from the #16 808 camera does work with M2.

The M2 CMOS imager and ribbon cable are NOT compatible with the original Mobius (M1) CMOS or ribbon cable due to a different number of traces. But a #16 808-style camera lens extension cable WILL work with the M2 module, but only the very short one (6cm / 2.5"). A longer cable will attenuate the signal too much and will NOT work.

You can also replace the battery with a super capacitor, it is working as well the same used for M1

Ref the Mobius 2, both the UK and US websites show the Mobius that has heat sinks on top, and also the buttons are on the top and not on the side! What is going on?
