What SD CARD should I buy?

If you want an SD Card for your camera - these are the ones I use and recommend.

I'd strongly recommend not to buy any SD cards off ebay - I've heard about too many issues with counterfeit cards - often sold on by unwitting resellers. My inbox regularly gets messages from people who bought a £150 camera then cheaped out and bought a £3 memory card on ebay - Then when it doesn't worth they blame the camera! It doesn't make any sense. Good memory is cheaper than it's ever been - see the links above.

A lot of HD cameras will not work properly with cards larger than 32GB (cards over 32GB are usually SDXC rather than the SDHC standard used by 32GB cards. SDXC cards use the ex-FAT system rather than FAT32 - in short they are a different standard). - so don't just buy the biggest card you can afford - read the specs in the manual to see what it accepts.

RECOMMENDED CARDS (for action cams - see dashcams below)

CLASS 10 UHS-1 CARDS (For HD Cameras)

U3 CARD (For 4K cameras)

The SD card in a dashcam is re-written over, more frequently than in other types of cameras. Some manufacturers void their guarantee if an SD card was used in a dashcam. So, no surprise, there are special High Endurance SD cards made just for's some.

VERY IMPORTANT. These links take you to the product, however Amazon have three different ways of selling. There's Amazon Direct - This means that you are only dealing with Amazon themselves, then there's other sellers that use Amazon's facilities - these show as Fulfilled By Amazon and finally there's Market Place sellers that advertise on Amazon, but operate independently.  I strongly recommend that you only use the first...the Amazon Direct - Sold By Amazon option. Even if it appears that you are paying a couple of £/$ more it is more than likely you are comparing the price of a real item against the price of a fake.

To give you an idea of the extent of the fake goods problem. In a 2016 survey by Apple - 90% of the 'Apple' chargers sold through Amazon - using the other the two methods..which includes the "Fulfilled by Amazon" option -  were found to be counterfeit....90%!

Back in the kitchen with a Pasta Maker

I'm always on the lookout for kitchen gadgets to feature in a video.  This is touted as the number one fresh pasta maker in Italy, although most people there, just like elsewhere, prefer to buy dried pasta.  You can buy a heck of a lot of bags of dried pasta for the price of this machine, so it’s definitely not a way to save money, it probably makes a better gift than it does an investment.
Unlike most kitchen gadgets I’ve tested, this is one I will be using again. It’s surprisingly fun, it works well, there's something special about eating pasta you've just made and the cost of using it is negligible.
Unfortunately the place I bought mine from (Coolshop) no longer stock  them - but according to the Philips website it is now being sold officially in the U.K. for £170, but I've yet to find anywhere with stock.
Amazon UK: (Out of stock)
You can download the recipe book here
It's pretty simple to make flavoured pasta - e.g. To make carrot flavoured pasta you replace the water in the mixture with carrot juice...and the same goes for Tomato etc.
i) - The toy I mentioned was not from Playmobil - it was the Playdoh mop top hair shop
ii) I pronounced penne incorrectly a couple of times in this video. That’s how my family always pronounced it - although to be honest I don't think it's a word we said very much. You'll also notice that I also pronounce it correctly once in the video. However this slight difference in pronunciation seems to have upset everyone on the planet with a keyboard - people are rioting in the streets, economies have crashed and countries have declared martial law. I know it’s difficult, but please try to get past this horrendous and awfully upsetting event - I'm working on arranging counselling sessions for all the affected people. It is a deeply shocking and sobering event for us all, may god have mercy on my soul.

Great video as always, Mat. I guess that saves me £150 - I would love to love freshly made pasta, but like you, I really can’t tell the difference compared to dried. I suspect cooking it for the correct time with the right amount of salt in the water is more important.
The puppet sketch is brilliant - tip number 5 left me speechles! Perfect parody.
As to your mispronounciation of penne, as a penance you must recite the names of all 350 types of pasta every night for a week!

Well, I followed the outro advice, open mouth, red circle and all ( ). I'm curious to see whether it works and whether this video will get more viewers than my Sony DAB radio one. There must be some truth to the outro, I never thought of it, but I did see those open mouth picture rather often...

You’ll have to let me know how you get on.

Honestly I'm glad when you slip up because I know you're going to end up having to post (or penne) some hilarious riposte!
It just wouldn't be the same without them.

Love the diverse posts, keep it up!

Just to let you know how I got on. It didn't seem to make any real difference in terms of views, compared to other videos, then I realised that of course it didn't - I forgot an important aspect shown in your video. I didn't put NUDE in upper case letters in the title.

I didn’t really expect it would...but it was fun to try.
