What is the best Dashcam?
That's a question that I find in my inbox every day. However like most things, there is no one 'best' model that will suit everyone...so just like buying a car, some shoes, or taking a holiday, you should choose whatever closest fits your needs.
To make things a bit easier, I categorised some of the best cameras I've tested below
The BEST DASH CAMERAS I've tested
Tiny Camera with WiFi, GPS, Magnetic Mount - (the one I use) - DDpai M6+
Tiny camera without a screen - Mobius
Tiny camera with a screen - Mini 0806 (WARNING - can have reliability issues)
Small Camera with a screen - Vantrue N1
Cheapest camera that works - G1W (look to get a G1W-C to avoid battery failure)
Simple Discreet Capacitor Cam - A119
Front & Rear Camera with dual 1080p recording & CPL filter - Vico Marcus 5
Easy to use, sensible camera that most users seem happy with - Transcend Drivepro 200
Easy to use, yet fully featured (GPS,WiFi) and a 2yr warranty - Transcend Drivepro 220
Compact quality camera with GPS - DOD LS430W (now replaced by the LS460W)
Motorsport Camera - go to track days? this is the camera for you - DOD SP1
A Taxi Camera (records passengers as well as driving) - Transcend Drivepro 520
Amongst the best video quality in a nice simple camera. - Yi Car Camera
As you can see there are a lot of capable dashcams to choose from. Watch the reviews, download some samples. I can't test anything for more than a few weeks, so long term reliabilty problems will only be identified by owners of the cameras, therefore it's really worth spending 10 mins reading through any owners comments under each article.
If you want to learn about some of the basic features of dashcams the video below might be of assistance.
